Ambati leads India to 2-0 lead against SL

Ahmedabad, Nov 6 (IBNS) Ambati Rayudu smashed a brilliant unbeaten 121 runs as India defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets in the second ODI match of the series here on Thursday.

Chasing Sri Lanka's 274 fir eight, India reached the target of 275 runs by losing four wickets with 33 balls to spare.

In the process, India took 2-0 lead in the series.

The star of the clash was Rayudu as he smashed his maiden century and remained unbeaten till the end.

Rayudu hit 121 runs off 118 balls and guided his side to victory.

With India gearing up for the World Cup next year, all these knocks assumes significance by keeping in mind the preparation for the tournament which was last won by the 'Men in Blue'.

Rayudu smashed 10 boundaries and four sixes in his knock.

Shikhar Dhawan shined with the bat and scored 79 runs while skipper Virat Kohli contributed 49 runs with his willow.

Seekkuge Prasanna picked up three wickets for Sri Lanka.

Earlier, the visitors had posted 274 for eight on the scorecard.

Angelo Mathews was the top scorer for the side with his 92 not out. He smashed  10 boundaries and a six in his innings.

Umesh Yadav, R Ashwin and Akshar Patel took two wickets each for India.

After the match, Rayudu said: "It's special, and it's been a long wait."
