Akshar Patel gets maiden India call

Mumbai, Oct 14 (IBNS): Gujarat’s rookie left-arm spinner Akshar Patel got his maiden call up for the senior cricket team when he was named in the national squad for the last two ODI’s against West Indies on Tuesday, media reported.

Owing to his performance in the IPL-7, BCCI selectors included Akshar Patel in the squad for the final two one-day international matches against West Indies.

The matches will be played at Dharamshala and Kolkata on October 17 and October 20, respectively.

Patel, who plays for Kings XI Punjab franchisee in the IPL also made the Team India cut for the one-off T20 against the West Indies along with Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Manish Pandey.

The match will be played in Cuttack on October 22.

Rohit Sharma will make a return to first-class cricket. He has been picked for the Suresh Raina-led BCCI President's XI squad that will play a three-day match against the Caribbeans in Kanpur from October 25-27.
