Ajinkya Rahane named skipper for Zimbabwe tour, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli rested

New Delhi, June 29 (IBNS): Regular captains MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli have been rested for the upcoming Zimbabwe tour while selectors named Indian batsman Ajinkya Rahane as the skipper of the Indian side for the series against the African nation.

Apart from Dhoni and Kohli, other cricketers like Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, R Ashwin, Rohit Sharma and Umesh Yadav, who have been playing continuously for the past few months, have been rested for the series.

Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who made a  comeback in the Indian Test squad with the recent series in Bangladesh, was selected for the Zimbabwe tour. He last played an ODI match for India in 2011.

The All-India Senior Selection Committee of the BCCI met in Delhi earlier  on Monday to pick the Indian team for the tour of Zimbabwe in July 2015 and the India ‘A’ squad for the two four-day games against Australia ‘A,’ both of which are to be played at Chennai, from July 22 to July  25, and from July 29 to Aug 1  respectively.

Cheteshwar Pujara has been named the skipper of the Indian 'A' side.

Umesh Yadav, who was not named in the Indian side, has been selected in the India 'A' side.

India recently lost the ODI series against Bangladesh.
