After Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar now urges fans to support Indian football team

Mumbai, June 3 (IBNS): After Virat Kohli, now ex-Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has urged fans to support and watch national football team play in the stadium.

"C'mon India... Let's fill in the stadiums and support our teams wherever and whenever they are playing. @chetrisunil11 @IndianFootball," Tendulkar tweeted along with a video message for his fans.

It all started after Indian football team captain Sunil Chhetri urged fans to visit stadiums to support them.

He made the appeal via video posted on his social media platform.

"Abuse us, criticise us but please come to watch the Indian national team play," urged the skipper.

He said: "To all of you who are fans of big European clubs and support European clubs with so much passion and sometimes you guys think that the level is not the same, so why do you waste your time?."

"Agreed, the level is not the same, not even close but with our desire and determination, we will try our best to make your time worth," he said.

He requested football fans in India to visit stadiums to watch the national side contesting on the field.

India has improved their ranking in the FIFA chart.

As per the latest release, India stands at the 97th spot.

Indian football team  defeated Chinese Taipei 5-0 on Friday in the opening game of the four-nation tournament in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, Sunil's appeal was also supported by another youth icon and cricket captain Virat Kohli.

Posting a video, Kohli also tweeted: "Please take notice of my good friend and Indian football skipper @chetrisunil11's post and please make an effort."
