Women empowerment is not just about sex, clothes: Sonakshi on Deepika's video

Mumbai, Apr 1 (IBNS): When it comes to women empowerment actress Sonakshi Sinha has a different take on the subject compared to her colleague Deepika Padukone, who has recently batted for the issue through an online video called 'My Choice.'
On being asked about her opinion on the video, Sonakshi said, "I haven't watched the video but I know about the thought behind it that is women empowerment... it comes from a good space but honestly I believe empowerment should be given to those women who need it, far away from where we are right now."

She said women empowerment is not always about the kind of clothes one wear.

"Women empowerment is not always about the kind of clothes you wear, not about who you want to have sex with or stuff like that. It's about employment, strength," she said.

This comes after Deepika's video has created quite a buzz.

Many have termed the video hypocritical and elitist.

Deepika along with 98 other women have featured in the video, directed by Homi Adjania of 'Cocktail' and 'Finding Fanny' fame.

The two-minute-34-second black-and-white video shows the actress calling for change in the "caged" mindset of men about women.

The video asks men to stop judging a woman for their choices of clothes, profession and life.

"It is my choice to live life the way I want, to wear clothes I like, to decide how I want my body to be, when I want to get married or if I ever want to walk down the aisle, to decide if I want to be straight or a lesbian...," Deepika said in the video.
