Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan has expressed support for activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on a hunger strike for 21 days demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET paper leak and broader education-related issues.

Hrithik shares Wangchuk's message

In an Instagram story, Hrithik shared a video of Wangchuk describing the trauma faced by students affected by the alleged paper leak after months of rigorous preparation for the examination.

Sharing the video, the actor wrote: "This sounds true. I learnt about the trauma students go through when I played teacher in one of my movies."

Hrithik played educator Anand Kumar in 'Super 30'

Hrithik portrayed renowned mathematician and educator Anand Kumar in the 2019 biographical drama Super 30.

The film traces Anand Kumar's journey from being a brilliant mathematics student in Patna to becoming a teacher dedicated to helping talented but economically disadvantaged students achieve their dreams.

It also depicts his struggle against poverty, corruption and powerful coaching mafias while building the Super 30 programme, which provides free coaching, accommodation and meals to 30 underprivileged students every year to prepare for the IIT-JEE entrance examination.

For the role, Hrithik adopted a de-glamourised look, spoke with a Bihari accent and underwent a significant physical transformation to resemble Anand Kumar.

Wangchuk shifted to hospital after police action

Meanwhile, Delhi Police on Saturday morning removed Wangchuk from the protest site at Jantar Mantar and shifted him to Safdarjung Hospital.

The action came days after the Delhi High Court directed the Centre to ensure the activist's health amid concerns over his prolonged fast.

According to reports, Wangchuk has lost around 9 kg during his 21-day hunger strike.
