Telugu film actor Jaya Prakash Reddy dies of cardiac arrest

Guntur/UNI: Popular Telugu film actor T Jaya Prakash Reddy died of cardiac arrest at his residence here on Tuesday.

He was 74 and is survived by his wife Rajyalakshmi and son Chandra Prathap Reddy.

He acted in more than 150 films.

Reddy won the hearts of crores of Telugu film buffs with his villain role by speaking in Rayalaseema accent.

He acted with many Telugu superstars including Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Venkatesh, Mahesh Babu, Jr.NTR, Prabhas and Ravi Teja.

Reddy gained popularity with his villain roles in "Samarasimha Reddy" in which Balakrishna was the hero and Preminchukundam Raa in which Venkatesh was the hero by speaking Telugu in Rayalaseema accent.

Later he acted in dozens of movies as a villain by speaking Rayalaseema accent.

He acted in many blockbuster Telugu movies including Narasimha Naidu, Krishna, Jayam Manadera, Vijayarama Raju, Chennakesava Reddy, Khaidi N0.150, Temper, Sudigadu and Sarainodu.

Reddy started his film career with ‘Brahmaputrudu’ in 1988 and acted in the blockbuster film ‘Sarileru Ni Kevvaru’ with Mahesh Babu which was released in January, 2020.

He won the ‘Nandi award’ for best villain in 'Samarasimha Reddy" film.

Reddy was born in Sirivella village in Kurnool district and started his career as a school teacher and acted in dramas.

He had been living in Guntur since the clamping of lockdown.

His funeral would take place in the evening today, family members said.

Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy condoled the death of Jaya Prakash Reddy.

In a statement here, Reddy, while expressing grief over the death of Reddy, said, "He created a special place for himself in film-land through his inimitable dialogue delivery and mannerisms".

He conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family members.

Former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu also condoled his death.

"The Telugu film industry has lost a talented actor", Mr.Naidu said and conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family members.
