Sonam starts shooting for Neerja Bhanot biopic

Mumbai, Apr 19 (IBNS): Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor has started shooting for the biopic on Indian flight attendant Neerja Bhanot.

Kapoor tweeted: "Day 1 of #NeerajBhanot thank you @foxstarhindi and @BlingLive for making this possible.. Let the journey begin! #nerves #excitement."

Bhanot was a flight attendant for Pan Am, based in Mumbai, India, who was murdered while saving passengers from terrorists on board the hijacked Pan Am Flight 73 on Sept 5, 1986.

Posthumously, she became the youngest recipient of India's highest civilian award for bravery, the Ashok Chakra.

Photographer Atul Kasbekar, who is a producer with the film, tweeted: "#NeerjaBhanot Her story begins today... Wish us luck."

Actress Dia Mirza said: "To my @atulkasbekar @findingshanti @piyasawhney!!! May this be all that you hope for it to be :) lots of love and good wishes! #Neerja."

Actor Riteish Deshmukh tweeted: " @atulkasbekar congrats my friend -this debut was waiting to happen Mr producer."
