Kolkata, April 27 (IBNS): National Award winning Bengali singer, Rupankar Bagchi, who is selecting online performers from UK for the Harrow Music Festival, said that the concept of such selection for giving them the chance to perform with him at the upcoming music festival in London, is extremely unique and different.

The audition for the solo performers, from all over UK, was hosted by the popular lifestyle and entertainment chain store Starmark in association with London Sharad Utsav, London Kalibari, and Kolkata today.comon Saturday, at South City Mall outlet.

The entire audition programme, which took place at Birmingham, UK was judged live by Rupankar Bagchi. There were a total of 12 participants. Out of them 3 got shortlisted. They were selected to perform on stage together with Bagchi in the Harrow Music Festival, which will be held at Birmingham on July 2  and at Harrow on July 3, this year.

The criteria needed for audition was only Bengali songs of any genre or type like classical, traditional, folk or modern. The participants attempted to sing various types of songs and some even used different instruments while singing.

“Though all of the participants stay so far from the native land, belonging to a totally separate country and culture, it is good to see that they have adapted to the root of Bengali songs so well.” said Bagchi.

“I am hoping to spend some exciting times with them in UK. And is expecting for some more similar programmes to be taking place in future,” he said.
