Mumbai, July 27 (IBNS) Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia, who in a tweet had taken a dig at the Narendra Modi government saying that good governance is not about taking selfies and observing Yoga Day, thus inviting protests by Modi followers, has said that she had not aimed it at attacking someone personally but it was a result of frustration as a Mumbai citizen.

“The intention of my tweet was never to demean or personally attack anyone. It was the mere frustration of a helpless citizen of Mumbai [read poor civic amenities ]," she said after encountering enraged Modi supporters.

"I've tried to take the high road on the outcome and ignore the people who've abused me and my family and nauseam online.

"But  I felt intimidated as protestors stood outside my house. I am grateful to our police for protecting us and request people to see that my words were about a subject and not a person. My goal was never to hurt anyone's sentiments. I have wholeheartedly and consistently supported the government's movements like Yoga Day and Swachh Bharat as I will do in the future as well. I hope we can focus on the issues that matter and that my appeal to improve our civic amenities is taken in the right way,” she said.

Neha Dhupia's tweets were critical of Modi government’s Selfie With Daughter initiative and also the International Yoga Day celebrations vis-a-vis civic amenities in India.

"One rain n [and] the city comes to a standstill. Good governance is not about selfies n [and] makin [making] us do yoga, it’s making sure ur [your] citizens r safe," she had tweeted.
