Madhur receives Sophia award

New York, Oct 12 (IBNS): Indian filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar on Sunday said he has been awarded the Sophia award at the Syaracuse Film Festival here.

The director tweeted: "Honored to have received the SOPHIA award today from Tom Bower at Syaracuse Film Festival, New York! @SYRFILM."

Madhur's two films 'Fashion' and 'Heroine' were screened in the 'Film from India' section at the festival.

Madhur had tweeted last month: "FASHION & HEROINE will be screened on Oct 11, 12. This will be my first visit to Syracuse. Looking forward! @priyankachopra, @utvmovies."
