Indu 3 is all about the mystery to be solved: Ishaa Saha

Q. The wait for Indu 3 is finally set to be over. What's in your headspace right now?

A. It feels great. The audience was getting impatient. We were often asked about updates. It feels good that finally we could provide a new season to the audience. Honestly, I don't want to look back and analyse the delay as I am happy that the wait is finally over.

Q. What was your mindset when the work was getting delayed or postponed?

A. A few things are beyond my control. I could have gotten upset over the delay but again, I couldn't help it. Honestly, I waited for the first day of shooting to actually believe that it was finally happening (laughs). I think now the audience is certain of the release.

Q. How has Indu transformed in the final season?

A. I don't think there was much of a purview for Indu's transformation because the third and final season is all about the mystery to be solved. Indu's characteristics were already established in the previous seasons so I don't think there was any scope for a drastic change in my role. She will be consistent. But yes, her emotions and the incidents would be non-identical. I think more than Indu's characteristics, the content of this season will be more important. 

Q. How was your reunion with Suhotro Mukhopadhyay with whom you have worked on a number of projects in between?

A. I have developed a good onscreen understanding with Suhotro as we worked together on a number of projects. We are aware of our timings in scenes and that was even noticed by Ayan Chakrabarti, who joined the team as director for the third installment. Apart from our chemistry, I was lucky to have a good co-actor like Suhotra. I have always been lucky on this front in my career. We share a good friendship and bonding.

Circumventing our personal equation, I feel Indu and Sujato (Ishaa and Suhotro's onscreen characters respectively) are good friends as well. Even after suspecting one another, both have an underlying mutual trust.

Q. Is virtue in a co-actor important for you at work? And what do you expect in terms of virtue from a co-actor?

A. It depends. I would judge a co-actor as a human being on the basis of his/her conduct on the floor. I am not interested in going beyond that. My co-actor must be trustworthy, fun-loving, should have the ability to reciprocate my vibe, be respectfully outspoken and someone who gives a positive vibe.

Q. You were directed by three different directors in three installments. Was it tough to adjust?

A. It was not tough because Sahana-di (Sahana Dutta, creator of Indu series) remained the common factor. The character has been constructed by the same person. Moreover, all the three directors had given full freedom in my work. I have to mention Ayan-da especially, he guided me with all calmness. Sayantan (Sayantan Ghosal, director of Indu first part) was equally calm while Abhi-da (Abhimanyu Mukherjee, director of Indu 2) was a bit emotional.

Q. How much Ishaa has changed since Indu 2?

A. A lot actually. People change and grow with time and situation. Prior to the Indu 3 shoot, I watched the first two parts to match the acting and what I found was a calmer version of myself. I can't imagine myself as calm as I was in that phase of my life. In terms of appearance too, I have changed.

Q. You claim to be sorted. But how do you manage turbulent situations in your career or in personal life?

A. Yeah, I can manage tough situations by devising some way or the other. I am very balanced. Though I am sorted, it doesn't mean I do not get disoriented. I too react but somehow manage any crisis.

Q. How do you manage to keep your private life as it is despite considerable public presences?

A. I try but also fail at times (laughs). I don't think it's very tough to keep private life as it is. If I want it, I am sure I would be able to do it.

Q. A lot of male actors have detective franchises. Is Ishaa having one for herself with Indu?

A. I don't think Indu is an out and out detective series. Indu is trapped in a situation and she went on to investigate certain incidents to fulfill her own curiosity. I don't think she is a detective.

Q. Are you keen to play a detective on-screen?

A. Of course, especially being an avid reader of detective stories.
