‘I’m only interested in talking about myself’: Sunita Ahuja opens up on Govinda, marriage and her comeback

Kolkata/IBNS: Sunita Ahuja, celebrity YouTuber and wife of Bollywood star Govinda, recently visited Kolkata for an open conversation with the press, followed by a question-and-answer session.

Ahuja arrived at Tall Tales Kolkata, sharing different aspects of her life such as her journey at Lock-up, her re-identifying her identity as a woman, her comeback into the Bollywood industry with her son’s upcoming release, and much more.

“If you're a star wife, you have to keep a heart of stone. So I got married very young.
I was 18 years old. My daughter was born in 19, and I knew Govinda when I was 15 years old. So, like, I have known him for around 42, 43 years, and it has been 38 years since we got married.

"So, I had mentally prepared myself to understand that he would have friends, different parties, and I understood that,” said Ahuja.

She spoke in detail about her hardships in her relationship with Govinda and the journey of her life, getting married at an early age and focusing on her life as a wife and a mother.

In conversation with IBNS, Ahuja reflected upon her rejection of the role of a female lead in the movie Tan Badan in the 1980s.

“I rejected the role for the movie because I was focusing on my role as a wife and a mother during that period of time. If I had taken acting, my love for Govinda would not have blossomed during that time.”

She talked about how that period of her life has passed on and she is entering into a new phase of life with her acting as the mother of her son in her son’s new movie release.

She also showed her urge towards working in films across several languages, especially in Bengali, especially with director Srijit Mukherji.

Reflecting upon her marriage and their recent problems, Ahuja said, “I don't even care about that. I'm not interested in talking about my husband, our problems, or his friends. I'm only interested in talking about myself, my family, my life, etc.
God bless him, man. Let him be a happy man. I'll be happy here, man.”

She wished Govinda well and wished that he is happy with whoever he is and whatever he is doing.

Sunita Ahuja spoke on changing her identity from being a Bollywood wife to being known for herself, and Ahuja has already taken her first steps with her YouTube channel and starring in her son’s own debut.
