I consider Parambrata as competitor, sure he also does : Abir Chatterjee

Kolkata, Jan 16 (IBNS) Actor Abir Chatterjee sounds happy that friend-actor Parambrata Chatterjee shares more screen space with him in upcoming Bastushaap by Kaushik Ganguly but affirms he considers the 'Baishe Srabon' star as a competitor.
"In the Srijit Mukherjee film we had been cast together, but for a brief period. This is for the first time me and Param have been featured in a bigger way in Bastushaap," the Monchora actor tells IBNS at the trailer-music launch of the film.

"I do consider him as competitor. I think he also does," Abir confesses in a candid chat.

Asked if that entailed to overshadowing each other in the film, Abir replies in the negative.

"Say I am sitting with you on couch and we are sitting in a certain posture as demanded by script. Will I suddenly lean forward towards you to get more footage and camera space! No way. We have to complement each other," he explains.

"We have that much education and intellect that our principal objective remains to make a good film and not be individualistic. Say whoever is at the non-striker's end on a batting crease, he will help the other one  (to steady the innings)," Abir says.

"I had never attempted to overshadow anybody. But in this profession we have to be competitors. It is healthy. I am sure he also looks at it in the same way." Abir, who has delivered back to back hits in Bengali film industry in past one year, says.

Stating Raima's presence in a shooting ensured never a dull moment, Abir chuckles to recall how he, Parambrata and Raima together set the house on fire during shoots and the 'hosts' director Kaushik Ganguly and actor-wife Churnidi (Ganguly) watched indulgently.

He considers being part of Kaushik's film for the first time is breaking the jinx of seven-eight years.

Produced by Greentouch Entertainments Bastushaap will be released this Friday
