Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood actress Nushrratt Bharuccha’s recent visit to the Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain has sparked controversy, drawing sharp reactions from sections of the Muslim community.

Nushrratt offered prayers to Lord Mahakal and participated in Hindu religious rituals, including pouring water at the temple. The 40-year-old actress later shared a picture from the visit on her Instagram story, captioning it, “Jai Shree Mahakal.”

Reacting strongly while speaking to ANI, All India Muslim Jamaat national president Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi criticised the actress’s actions, stating, “Nusrat Bharucha visited the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain, where she performed puja rituals. According to Sharia, such acts are a grave sin (Gunah-e-Azeem).”

He further advised the actress to perform tauba (repentance), recite istegfar (seeking forgiveness) and read the kalma, according to media reports.

On the professional front, Nushrratt had two releases in 2025 — the horror sequel Chhorii 2 and the comedy-thriller Ufff Yeh Siyapaa.
