From Metros to Kashmir: Dhurandhar storms Box Office, packs theatres in Shopian, Pulwama
Dhurandhar, the action-packed spy thriller directed by Aditya Dhar, is sweeping across India like a storm, setting new box-office records since its release.
Joining the nationwide wave, the film has drawn houseful audiences in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian and Pulwama regions — areas where theatrical exhibition has traditionally remained limited.
The film’s strong turnout has reignited interest in cinema halls across the region, underscoring a growing appetite for big-screen entertainment when access and affordability align.
Commenting on the response, Rahul Nehra, Managing Director of Citara Plex, said, “Our focus has been on building right-sized cinemas for smaller markets. The response to Dhurandhar in towns like Shopian and Pulwama reinforces our belief that audiences will come to theatres when the experience is affordable, accessible, and close to home.”
The film continued its remarkable run on Sunday, setting the box office on fire as it earned ₹530 crore globally. Trade sources told Hindustan Times that the movie’s worldwide collection now stands at a staggering ₹530 crore.
Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role and features an ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and R. Madhavan.
