Mumbai, Jan 5 (IBNS) Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone turned a year older as she celebrated her 30th birthday on Tuesday.

The Piku actress was born in 1986 to Indian shuttler Prakash Padukone and his wife Ujjala.

Though she started off with badminton, playing the sport in competitive level, Padukone decided to pursue modelling in her teens.

After endorsing various brands in her modelling stint, Padukone finally made her entry into Bollywood via the Farah Khan directed Om Shanti Om, opposite Shah Rukh Khan.

Soon other projects folowed but it wasn't until 5 years later in 2012 that she made the critics sit up and take notice of her acting.

The following years, Deepika matured into a fine actress and is one of the most sought after female stars in the country today with her movies raking up the big sum quite frequently.

With Piku, Taamasha and Bajirao Mastani, Deepika finished off 2015 in style, keeping the banner high.

She is also the recipient of two Filmfare awards.
