Anjan-Anupam come together to dish out film playback

Kolkata, July 25 (IBNS) 'Autograph' music man Anupam Roy, who also shot into national limelight as the 'Piku' sound-scape creator and for 'Moner Manush' for Coke Studio, now directs Bengal rock singer-songwriter-actor-filmmaker Anjan Dutta in the new film Saheb Bibi Golaam.

Singing under Anupam's direction for the first time  Anjan, the timeless Bela Bose crooner of 90s in Bengal, lends his voice to 'Tomar sahare' with the lyrics penned by Anupam himself,

"I immensely liked the lyrics but first sang in a brooding way, which Anupam says is not Anjan Dutt's trademark style. He wanted the 'Ranjana Ami Aar asbona' flavour and well goaded by him I sang second time in a carefree manner," a visibly happy Anjan says recalling the experience..

Chips in Anupam, "We all wanted a romantic Anjan Dutt and the song fits the bill,"

Asked if he gave any tips about how the song has to be recorded, Anjan says he never does that.

To another question if modern balladeer Anjan Dutta  will be more identified with the song and not Anupam Roy, the soft-spoken younger musician says: "Such thoughts never occurred to me. "

Anupam, who has done the musical score for Praktan, Khwato, upcoming Zulfiqar, Dhumketu, apart from Saheb Bibi Golaam, says "whatever be the genre for me the particular situation and moment of the film matter the most."

"Happy, sad or romantic. Yes it is a positive development that I am getting the chance to work in different films."

"Had never given it a serious thought whether my arrival since Autograph days in 2010 coincided with their innings in Tollywood. But thanks to the people who have become part of the journey," he comments when told about the chemistry with other lyricist-composers like Indradeep  Dasgupta, Srijato, Anindyo and others who have now brought a whiff of fresh air dishing out new-age urban melodies resonating with the culture of Bengal in the contemporary films.
