'Abol Tabol' magic comes to the fore in first ever cerebral comedy game show

Kolkata, Apr 29 (IBNS) Invoking Bengal's comic literary traditions of Sukumar Roy, a comedy show now brings back the 'abol tabol' (nonsense rhyme) magic to the sets.
“We have recreated scenes with pictures from immortalized  ‘Khuror Kal’, ‘Kumropatash’ and ‘Ramgaruer Chhana’ to infuse the genial humour element to the on-set deliberations between the anchors and participants for the new game show, ‘Bhyabachyaka where the spirit of Sukumar Roy’s nonsense rhymes will reign,” Subhankar Banerjee from Star Jalsha said.

“The reality game show will be the first time since we had laughter shows and comedy circus types in Bengal but here the contents and designs have been tailored keeping in mind the typical but contemporary Bengali Sensibilities of the audience,” he said.

“Each episode will feature four celebrity contestants and there are a total of four and going by the name ‘Bhyabachaka’ (perplexed with tinge of surprise)  every round will have a simple question with funny disrtractions like naming a film by the maestro and being bombarded by ‘cannon’’ if the contestant flunks. All in good spirit with a comedian like Biswanath on the saddle along with Sayan Ghosh,” he said.

“You can call this a way of tribute to Bengal’s comic traditions blazed by personalities like Sukumar Ray, the great limerick man,” he said.
