Guwahati: Hailing the Indian cricket team for its historic victory against Australia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said youths need to take inspiration from them and urged them to learn from the victory.

Addressing students and faculty at the 18th convocation of Tezpur University in Assam, Prime Minister Modi said that despite injuries problem, loss and hardships the young Indian team overcome and beat Australia.

“The young team had faced various problems. We lost so badly, but we overcome fast and win next match. Despite injury problems our players stay in the field. In challenging conditions, our young players had faced challenges, they find out new solutions. Some players had less experience, but their determination was so strong. As soon as they got a chance they made a history. The young team had both talent and temperament and they defeated a team who has experience and senior players,” Modi said.

The Prime Minister said this performance of the young players is not only important in view of sports, it also a big life lesson.

“First lesson is that, we have to belief in our ability, be confident, second to have a positive mindset. If we go with a positive mindset, the result will be positive. The third and most important lesson is when you have the option to leave safely and on the hand have the choice of difficult victory, then you should have to explore the option of possibility of win. There is no loss if you fail in the attempt to win. We should never be afraid of taking risks and using experiments. We have to be proactive and fearless to overcome the fear of failure,” Modi said.

PM Modi urged the students to work towards building a self-reliant India.

A total of 1,218 students received their degrees and diplomas in the convocation.

Assam governor Jagdish Mukhi, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also delivered their speeches in the programme.
