According to the reports, the family members of the woman had lodged a missing complaint at Fakirganj police station  on September 8, stating that she had been  missing since August 24.

Following the complaint, police registered a case (no – 196/2018) under section 363, 365 and 34 of IPC and started an investigation.

Acting on a tip-off, South Salmara police on Friday  rescued the woman from a brothel in Siliguri. The two traffickers arrested during the raid have been identified as   Rafikul Islam and Chand Miya,  Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Anita Hazarika said.

According to official reports, more than 12,300 women have been trafficked or kidnapped from Assam over the past three years.
