Jammu, Jul 15 (IBNS) In a fresh ceasefire violation, Pakistani Rangers on Wednesday morning resorted to firing in Akhnoor sector of Jammu district killing a woman and injuring three others, including a BSF jawan.

Reports said the mortar shelling from the Pak side followed an exchange of fire with BSF.

As BSF troops tried to evacuate the injured jawan in a vehicle, they were heavily fired upon by Pakistani Rangers, reports quoted BSF officials as saying.

The BSF jawans retaliated the attack resulting in exchange of fire.

.The injured jawan Anjali Kumar has been admitted to hospital.

Pakistani Rangers also resorted to firing in the civilian areas of  Bhalwal Bharth, Malabela, Siderwan areas and BoPs in which a  woman identified as Poli Devi died  while two other persons were injured.

The firing comes ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Jammu on July 17 to attend the centenary celebrations of former state Finance Minister Girdhari Lal Dogra.
