Will form K'taka govt in 24 hours if BJP wins 22 Lok Sabha seats: Yeddyurappa

| @indiablooms | Mar 13, 2019, at 03:02 pm

Bengaluru, Mar 13 (IBNS): In another claim by the former Karnataka Chief Minister, BS Yeddyurappa said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will form the state government within 24 hours if the saffron outfit bags 22 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, media reports said.

"I am not telling you this is out of audacity. If the people of Karnataka give us 22 seats in the coming Lok Sabha elections, we will form the government in Karnataka within 24 hours," Yeddyurappa has been quoted by NDTV.

"20 lawmakers from Congress have not accepted HD Kumaraswamy as their chief minister," he was quoted by NDTV.

The senior BJP leader made the claim days after he claimed his party will benefit from the Indian Air Force (IAF)'s airstrike post-Pulwama terror attack and will win 22 out of 28 Lok Sabha seats.

Though the BJP emerged as the single largest party in Karnataka Assembly polls last year, Congress and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda's Janata Dal (Secular) stitched a post-poll alliance to form the state government.

Though Yeddyurappa became the Chief Minister of a minority government in Karnataka initially, he had to resign after failing to prove his majority.

At present, BJP has 16 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka while Congress and JD(S) have nine and two seats respectively.
