New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has nominated 10 public personalities to lead a campaign against obesity and excessive oil consumption.

Modi has appealed to each of the 10 personalities to nominate 10 others in a bid to amplify the movement.

The Prime Minister wrote on X, "As mentioned in yesterday’s #MannKiBaat, I would like to nominate the following people to help strengthen the fight against obesity and spread awareness on reducing edible oil consumption in food.

"I also request them to nominate 10 people each so that our movement gets bigger!"

Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra has backed Prime Minister Modi's campaign against obesity.

In a video message, Neeraj told DD News, "PM Narendra Modi has urged the fight against obesity in Mann Ki Baat today. Health and well-being are the most important things in life.

"We must take care of ourselves and our families as well. Play any sport and eat healthy. In particular, I urge children to engage in outdoor games so that we as a country can prosper in a healthy direction."
