Kolkata/Burdwan, Mar 6 (IBNS): When Gujrat and Delhi are on edge following a terror alert, one youth has been detained on Sunday for moving suspiciously around Indian Air Force (IAF) airbase at Panagarh area in West Bengal's Burdwan district, officials said.

According to reports, locals spotted the suspicious movement and held the youth. He was handed over to the police later.

One senior official of Burdwan district police told IBNS, "Local people found two men, moving around the Panagarh IAF airbase suspiciously today and immediately captured one of them and handed over to us."

"We are interrogating him and search operation is underway for the other. We have informed the Ministry of Defence about the matter," he further said.

Around the same time, a major fire broke out in an automobile repairing garage, just outside the Panagarh airbase.

As many as four fire tender engines rushed to the spot and the fire was brought under control after few hours.

Few cars were gutted completely and at least three men were injured in the incident.

According to fire officials, the fire might have started from an oil-tanker, which was being welded that time in the garage.

However, the security at the Panagarh IAF base has been tightened, IAF sources said.
