COVID19 Lockdown

West Bengal extends lockdown till Aug 31

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday announced the ongoing lockdown due to COVID-19 will continue till Aug 31 in containment zones.

She announced the state will follow two-days of complete lockdowns in a week till Aug 31.

"We are extending the lockdown till Aug 31," Banerjee said.

She said till Aug 31 every Sunday will have complete lockdown.

However, she announced certain changes in the schedule due to festivals to be observed in the state in the upcoming days.

"School, colleges will remain shut at present," she said.

"Bengal will observe complete lockdown on August 02, 05, 08, 09, 16, 17, 23, 24 and 31 to break the chain of Covid-19 pandemic," said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said during the press conference.

Complete lockdown has already been announced on July 29 (Tomorrow).

Earlier, the state observed complete lockdown on July 23 and 25.
