Kolkata, May 3 (IBNS): Principal of a West Bengal college on Wednesday alleged that he has received beheading threat and was pressured to promote an unsuccessful student, according to reports.

"I received a call from an unknown number at around 9:47 pm. on Tuesday where an anonymous person claimed that he was calling from Kaliachak in Malda district. He threatened to behead me if I don't promote Selim Javed, a student of my college who failed in an exam," Durjay Kumar Deb, principal of Balurghat Law College in South Dinajpur district of Bengal, told IBNS.

"Following the threat call, I lodged a complaint with a local police station," Durjay Kumar Deb added.

Police said they have started investigation into the matter.

A police official told IBNS, "We are trying to track the mobile number, from which the threat call was made, and will quiz the student of Balurghat Law College, Selim Javed."

A week ago, at least ten students of the same college, which is affiliated to Gaur Banga University, were suspended for writing love poems, love letters and slang words in the answer sheets.
