Kolkata/Birbhum, Jan 14 (IBNS): At least six persons, including a civic volunteer, were killed and several others were injured when a speeding bus crashed into cars and rammed pedestrians on Saturday morning at Ilambazar in West Bengal's Birbhum district, reports said.

According to reports, a Bolpur to Langolhata bound private bus suddenly lost its control and hit as many as two cars at around 11 am near Ilambazar Bus Stand.

Thereafter, several pedestrians were mowed down by the over-speeding bus.

Several people were injured in the mishap and rushed to nearby hospitals, where six of them were declared dead.

However, police have seized the killer bus, while its driver and conductor/helper are still absconding.
