West Bengal: Bomb blast in local train

Kolkata, May 12 (IBNS) The Eastern Railway on Tuesday said six persons, including a woman, were injured when a bomb exploded in a coach of up Sealdah-Krishnanagar local 31811 UP close to Titagarh station in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district.

The explosion occurred 'as soon as the train left the Titagarh station at about 3.55 AM today'.

" While the injuries of four of the passengers including Swapan Ray, Raja Das, Aloke Sil and Smt. Nanda Kumar Devi are serious, that of the other two are not so . All of them have however been admitted to the B.R. Singh Hospital where their condition are reported to be stable," read an official statement.

Seven other persons with minor injuries were given first-aid at the spot.

"Though train services were affected in the up line following the incident, normal services resumed after an hour.However, there was no disruption of train services in the down line," the statement said.

A Help Line No.2350-3076 has been opened by Sealdah Division for the convenience of passengers, as is informed by the Eastern Railway by a press release.
