A wedding celebration in Basti district in Uttar Pradesh took a horrific turn when an 11-year-old boy was allegedly thrown into a burning tandoor after taking rasgullas.

The injured child, identified as Chaman, suffered severe burn injuries in the incident, which occurred on Wednesday.

According to police, a case has been registered against an unidentified catering worker, and efforts are underway to trace the accused, reported NDTV.

Due to the seriousness of his condition, the boy has been referred to King George's Medical University in Lucknow for advanced treatment.

Chaman, a resident of Gonda, had been living with his maternal relatives in Basti following the death of his mother.

He had attended a relative’s wedding in a village in the district on the day of the incident.

Witnesses said the catering contractor present at the venue became angry after the child repeatedly took rasgullas.

The accused allegedly threatened the boy and took him near the tandoor, where he reportedly lost balance and fell into the fire.
