WB: Visva-Bharati University temporarily closed after VC, 10 other staff test Covid-19 positive

Santiniketan/UNI: The vice-chancellor and 10 other staff members of Visva-Bharati University have been infected with the coronavirus, leading to a temporary closure of the university, a report said on Monday.

As many as 150 staff of the university had undergone tests and of them, 11 tested positive.

Vice-chancellor Bidyut Chakraborty's wife also tested positive for Covid-19, and both were home quarantined immediately.

The random tests were initiated after the driver of the vice-chancellor and some other staff members of the university were infected.

The office of the university has been closed and sanitisation has been started.
