Violent protests hit Kashmir over Budgam deaths

Srinagar, Mar 31 (IBNS): On call of joint resistance leadership violent clashes have erupted in Kashmir, soon after Friday prayers in most parts of the Valley against the killing of three youth in alleged government forces firing at Chadoora area of Budgam district on Mar 28.

According to reports, scores of youths took out rally from Maisuma area of Lalchowk city in Srinagar and shouted pro-freedom slogans and pelted stones and bricks on security forces that were guarding the roads sparking off clashes in the area.

The police resorted to firing teargas on protesters.

The Srinagar’s historic Jamia Masjid was under forces siege since morning as authorities were apprehending large scale protests after
Friday prayers.

Protesters pelted stones at security personnel at Main Chowk Sopore in Baramulla district, Maisuma and Parimpora in Srinagar, Muran Chowk, Billo-Rajpora and Preechoo in Pulwama district.


To foil any protest on precautionary measure authorities placed top separatist leaders including Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar
Farooq under house arrest.

On Mar 28, three persons and a militant were killed in firing by security forces following stone-pelting by hundreds of youths near the
site of a militant encounter in Chadoora Budgam of Central Kashmir.
