VHP re-converts 59 people in Kerala

| | Dec 25, 2014, at 11:51 pm
Kottayam, Dec 25 (IBNS): Carrying on the 'ghar wapasi' drive of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), the Hindu-wing re-converted 59 people to Hinduism at an event conducted in Kottayam district in Kerala on Thursday.
While one family was Muslim, all others who participated in the event were Christians, said reports.

The re-conversion event took place in two temples.

Earlier, the VHP had "re-converted" over 200 tribal Christians to Hinduism by holding rituals at Aranai village in Valsad district of Gujarat.

The VHP had said the "re-conversions" were voluntary and not by force.

They had claimed that these tribals were originally Hindus who had earlier converted to Christianity and now were returning to Hinduism in a 'ghar wapsi' ceremony.

The government has, however, distanced itself from the issue.
