Verdict 2019: At the end of obscene pamphlet war, Gautam Gambhir sends opponents outside the park

New Delhi, May 24 (IBNS): Sending his opponent outside the park, BJP leader and former cricket icon Gautam Gambhir won the Lok Sabha polls from East Delhi seat and made his way to the Parliament quite comfortably.

Gautam got  6.96 lakh votes while his key opponent Arvinder Singh Lovely of the Congress stood second by managing 3.04 lakh votes.

However, it was AAP candidate Atishi whose battle against Gautam was a matter to watch keenly.

Gautam, who is considered as India's World Cup champion as he had played a crucial role in India's victories in 2007 T20 World Cup and in 2011 WC, found himself in a bitter battle with the AAP candidate during the phase of campaigning as she had accused him of circulating pamphlet containing "obscene and derogatory" remarks against her.

Earlier this month, Atishi, during a press conference, had attacked Gambhir and said: "If Gambhir can stoop so low to defeat a strong woman like me, how can he ensure security for women as an MP?."

She was quoted as saying by NDTV: "I have only one question for Gautam Gambhir. If he is doing this against one woman, what about the lakhs of women in East Delhi who are worried about their safety?"

Gambhir had denied the claims and had tweeted: "I abhor your act of outraging a woman’s modesty@ArvindKejriwaland that too your own colleague. And all this for winning elections? U r filth Mr CM and someone needs ur very own झाड़ू to clean ur dirty mind."

Now, after registering yet another comfortable victory in the field of politics, a sector new to him, Gautam hit out at his opponents with a stylish tweet that read: "Neither it’s a ‘Lovely’ cover drive and nor it is an ‘आतिशी’ बल्लेबाज़ी। It’s just the BJP’s ‘गंभीर’ ideology which people have supported. Thanks a lot to all the @BJP4India and @BJP4Delhi team-mates for getting this mandate. We won’t fail people’s choice. EkBaarPhirModiSarkar."

Atishi was quick in congratulating him and even promised that she will be there to help him for the betterment of East Delhi: " Congratulations to
@GautamGambhir ! People of East Delhi have reposed their trust in you. I will always be available for help and collaboration for the betterment of East Delhi. All the best! (1/4)."
