Lucknow, Jun 21 (UNI) Taking serious note of the state of affairs in the jails, Uttar Pradesh government on Friday dismissed two officers from the service of the jails department with immediate effect.

Former jailor of Baghpat prison Uday Pratap Singh was sacked for laxity in his duty in which a dreaded sharp shooter Prem Prakash alias Munna Bajrangi was shot dead by another criminal Sunil Rathi inside the jail on July 9,2018.

Deputy jailor Dhirendra Kumar Singh, posted in Meerut jail, has been dismissed from the service after a sting operation by a private news channel on October 2, 2018 showed how he provided facilities to the prisoners after taking graft.

State Principal Secretary (Home) Arvind Kumar on Friday confirmed about the dismissal of service of the two jail officials.

On Thursday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had sternly gave a message to the officials that the government would not tolerate any laxity on the part of the officers and if required they will be sacked from the services.

In both the cases, the investigating officers, had gone through in detail probe into their cases and the charged officials were given adequate opportunities to place their innocence. But they failed and the investigating officers recommended highest action against them.

While the order of sacking of Dhirendra Kumar Singh was issued on June 6 last and the order of dismissal from service of jailor Uday Pratap Singh was taken on June 20.

Both the officials were under suspension after the incident.
