Agra: An Iranian citizen was arrested by the police from Achhnera area of Agra district for travelling without a valid visa, police sources said here on Monday.

Police sources told UNI that Behrouz Wali Zadeh, a native of Tehran in Iran, had come to visit Fatehpur Sikri.

"After visiting the town he came to a tea stall where he had a dispute with its owner. As the owner of the tea stall was unable to understand his language, he called the police," they said.

Police sources told UNI that even the police failed to understand his language after which the Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) was called.

"When the LIU sleuths asked his passport and visa they found that his visa had expired on April 26, 2021, but he overstayed. When quizzed Behrouz said that he came with his friends from Delhi," they said.

Police sources said that information is being collected that why he was staying in Achhnera and from how many days he is staying in Agra.

In-charge of Achhnera police station Anurag Sharma said that a case under the Foreigners Act has been lodged against Iranian youth.

"The information has been sent to Iranian Embassy and from there it will become clear that when he came to India and visited how many places," he said.
