Hapur (UP)/IBNS: After over a week of the kidnap and rape of a six-year-old girl in Western Uttar Pradesh's Hapur, the state police has arrested the accused, media reports said.

A photo of the accused, Dalpat, was issued earlier this week, days after police had issued three sketches of the accused, based on the description of the victim's parents and neighbours, said an NDTV report.

Police had issued a reward of Rs 50,000 for any information about the man.

On Thursday, the accused tried to mislead the police by leaving his clothes and a suicide note near a river. The note read, he was committing suicide as he did not want to die in police encounter, the report added.

The child was kidnapped from outside her house in Garh Mukteshwar, less than 100 km from Delhi, on Thursday, reportedly, by the man on a motorcycle.

She was found unconscious and soaked in blood behind bushes not far from her village and is being treated in a hospital in Meerut. A medical examination confirmed rape.

The report said the girl has undergone at least one surgery and doctors have not declared her out of danger yet.
