Uttar Pradesh: Girl killed, youth injured after being hit by train

Jaunpur: A girl was killed and a youth was seriously injured after being hit by a freight train In Singramau area of Jaunpur district here in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, police sources said here.

Police sources said that the incident took place on Jafrabad-Sultanpur section in the morning in which Ragini (20), a resident of Deosara in Pratapgarh district, was killed after being hit by the freight train.

"David Gautam (22), a resident of Badlapur in Jaunpur district, was seriously injured in the incident," they said.

Police sources said that the gateman Abhishek Singh informed the Station Superintendent of Harpalganj after which the local police and Railway Protection Force reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem examination.

"The injured has been admitted to the district hospital," they said.

Police in-charge Kamlesh Kannaujiya said that prima facie it seems that the girl and the youth were having an affair, though no specific information has been provided by the family members.
