A five-year-old boy was mauled to death by a pack of dogs in Shergarh area of Bareilly district in Uttar Pradesh, official sources said on Wednesday.

The sources here said that Saroj, a resident of Shiv temple, had gone to collect fodder from the jungle on Tuesday evening, leaving her son Daksh at home.

"After sometime Daksh also left the house and went towards the jungle to search for his mother," they said.

Sources told UNI news agency that near the sugarcane field, a pack of dogs attacked Daksh and bitten him badly on the neck and other parts of the body.

"Daksh was found lying in the pool of blood by his neighbour Vishal, who informed the boy's mother.

The boy, who sustained serious injuries was taken to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead," the sources added.
