Ghaziabad, Feb 14 (IBNS): Uttar Pradesh Police arrested Jagran.com editor Shekhar Tripathi from Ghaziabad on charges of poll code violation, according to media reports on Tuesday.

Reportedly, he was arrested late on Monday night after the Election Commission ordered the filing of an FIR against the editor and the management for violation of EC norms.

The Election Commission guidelines say that news organisations can not carry/publish any exit/opinion poll during the election period.

According to media reports, the publication posted the results of an exit poll on its English website after the first phase of elections in Uttar Pradesh.

The second phase is scheduled for Feb 15.
