US: Dance video at WWII Memorial sparks outrage, Indian-origin man may face deportation

An Indian-origin man may face deportation after a video of him dancing with a woman at the World War II Memorial went viral on social media.

The man, identified by some users online as Madhu Raju, has drawn widespread criticism for the act.

In the widely circulated clip, the man and a woman can be seen performing a choreographed dance routine at the memorial.

However, the official identity of the individual has not yet been confirmed.

After the video spread across social media platforms, many users criticised the act, calling it disrespectful to the memorial.

One user wrote on X, “No civic sense at all.”

“This is disrespectful to our fallen heroes. Go home!” another user commented.

A third user said, “That’s absolutely insulting and degrading.”

Indian author Anuraag Saxena also reacted to the incident, writing: “Who are these idiots? Because of them, the rest of us get a bad name.”

The controversy escalated further when a social media user reportedly tagged cybersecurity firm Palo Alto Networks and claimed that the person in the video worked at the company as a Cloud Network Security Engineer since June 2025.

Some online users also alleged that Raju operated a dance studio called MAD Dallas, according to a report by India Today.

Following the backlash, the studio’s social media handles and website were reportedly taken down.

The incident has also drawn the attention of US immigration authorities, who are examining whether the conduct could have implications for the individual’s visa status, the report added.

The World War II Memorial is a national memorial dedicated to Americans who served in the armed forces and as civilians during World War II. The monument stands on the National Mall in Washington, DC.
