US CDC issues 'Level 1' travel notice to India as Covid-19 cases dip
Washington: The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued 'Level 1' COVID-19 notice for Americans who are planning to visit India.
"Make sure you are fully vaccinated before traveling to India," read the travel direction issued by CDC on Monday.
India on Tuesday registered a massive dip in daily count as 8865 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in the past 24 hours.
According to the notice issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the risk of contracting Covid-19 in India and developing severe symptoms may be lower if you are fully vaccinated with an FDA authorised vaccine.
The CDC has also eased Covid-19 travel advisory for Pakistan.
As per the CDC, there are four types of health notices -- Level 4: Very High, Level 3: High, Level 2: Moderate, Level 1: Low.
The US State Department has also issued advisories for both India and Pakistan, urging its citizens to reconsider travelling to Islmabad due to to terrorism and violence and excercise caution while travelling to India as well.
In its advisory for India, the US has asked the Americans not to travel to Jammu and Kashmir due to terrorism and civil unrest and within 10 km of the India-Pakistan border amid possibility of armed conflict.
It further said, "The US government has limited ability to provide emergency services to US citizens in rural areas from eastern Maharashtra and northern Telangana through western West Bengal as US government employees must obtain special authorization to travel to these areas."
Meanwhile, the US urged its citizens travelling to Pakistan to avoid Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.
"Terrorist groups continue plotting attacks in Pakistan. A local history of terrorism and ongoing ideological aspirations of violence by extremist elements have led to indiscriminate attacks on civilian as well as local military and police targets," it said.
