UP: Five killed, 25 injured as train hits school bus

Mau, UP, Dec 4 (IBNS): At least five children were killed and as many as 25 others were injured after a school bus was hit by a speeding train at an unmanned level-crossing in Mau district in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday morning, media reports said.
The incident took place around 8 AM  when the bus was on it way to DD Convent School in Hajipur, carrying over 20 primary school children.
 
Sources said the bus was hit by Varanasi-bound Tamsa Express when it allegedly tried to cross the railway tracks.
 
Many injured children were taken to a district hospital for media treatment.
 
Following the accident, Northern Indian Railway CPRO Alok Kumar Singh has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the relatives of the deceased and RS 1 lakh for the critically injured.
