Unnao rape: Supreme Court directs airlifting of critically injured survivor to AIIMS

New Delhi, Aug 5 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Monday directed airlifting of Unnao rape survivor and her lawyer to All India Institute of Medical Sciences in the Capital from King George Medical University hospital, Lucknow, for further and better treatment if they are medically fit for it.

It is to be noted that both the victim and her lawyer were critically injured in a recent truck-car collision on the National Highway in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

The apex court said that the shifting to Delhi will be subject to they being medically fit for it.

A bench, headed by Justice Deepak Gupta, ruled, "We direct airlifting of Unnao Rape survivor and her lawyer to AIIMS Delhi, from KGMU, Lucknow, for further treatment if they are medically fit."
