Union Home Minister speaks to Odisha CM on flood situation

New Delhi, Aug 6 (IBNS) Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wendesday spoke to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on the ongoing flood situation in his state.

The Home Minister assured to provide all necessary help for relief and rehabilitation of the people living in the flood affected areas of Odisha.

Eight teams of National Disaster Response Force have been dispatched for the rescue and relief operations in Odisha. 

Meanwhile,  The Ministry of Home Affairs said Baitarani river is flowing above danger mark at Anandpur and Akhupada gauge stations.

"About 12.50 lakh cusecs of water is expected to pass through the Mahanadi river system," the ministry said in a statement.

Eight National Disaster Response Force teams have been deployed and two IAF helicopters are kept at standby.

Over 47,000 persons have been evacuated from flood affected districts to safer places.
