ULFA (I) militant killed in Assam encounter

Guwahati, Apr 18 (IBNS) : A hardcore ULFA (I) militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Upper Assam's Tinsukia district on Tuesday morning.

The incident took place at Dirak Rangpuriya village near Kakopathar.

Following certain intelligence inputs, army personnel had launched operation in  the remote village and came under attack of  the ULFA (I) militants who were hiding in a house owned by one Ajit Baruah.

The army personnel retaliated in which a militant was killed.

Security personnel have recovered the body besides two pistols and , ammunition  from the spot.

The slain militant is yet to be identified.
