"We have recovered 8 Kg of contraband of Heroin like substance from two narcotic smugglers at Jakhani Chowk along Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Udhampur," Rajiv Pandey, SSP Udhampur here said.

The top cop said that during the intervening night of June 20-21, a police party of Police Station Udhampur led by Inspector Vijay Singh Choudhary, laid a naka near Jakhani Chowk, NHW for checking of vehicles.

"During naka checking, police party stopped one passenger taxi for thorough search and 8 kg of heroine like substance (chitta) was recovered from the possession of two narcotic smugglers, who were arrested on the spot," said the SSP.

He identified the narcotic smugglers as Siraj Ahmed and Javed Ahmed, residents of Qazikund, District Kulgam, Kashmir.
