Srinagar/UNI: Two jawans were injured in a militant attack on security forces in the outskirts of Srinagar on Thursday.

Official sources said the militants fired at a Quick Reaction Team (QRT) of security forces at Khushipora, Parimpora in the city outskirt on Thursday afternoon. “Two jawans were injured in the attack,” they said, adding that the wounded were rushed to a hospital where they succumbed.

They said the militants managed to escape from the spot during the chaos created due to the firing, adding additional security forces were rushed to the area and a search operation has been launched to track down the attackers.

“Security forces have established checkpoint within 3 km radius from the attack site and all the vehicles, particularly two-wheelers were being thoroughly checked before allowing them to move forward,” they added.
