New Delhi/IBNS: Several eminent personalities across the world have been left "unverified" on Twitter after billionaire Elon Musk-owned micro-blogging site revoked blue checkmark.

The revocation was noticed first last night.

Among the personalities, who have lost the coveted blue tick, include politicians, filmstars, journalists and others.

Former US President Donald Trump, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai are among the people who lost the blue tick.

Twitter had planned to revoke blue ticks from April 1 initially.

But later the micro-blogging site retained the Twitter account with either legacy verified or the ones subscribed to Twitter blue.

Accounts which are subscribed to Twitter blue or verified with phone number, however, continue to retain the blue tick.

Users, who wish to get the blue tick, will have to pay $84 per year to Twitter.
