Top Rajasthan bureaucrat and five others arrested for running mining racket :Rs. 3.8 crore seized

Jaipur, Sept 17 (IBNS) A senior bureaucrat of of Rajasthan is among six officials arrested for running a mining syndicate as personnel of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) seized Rs 3.8 crore paid as a bribe by a mine owner, reports said.

Principal secretary Ashok Singhvi was apprehended by the ACB officials following a search in his residence throughout Wednesday night and got hold of “overwhelming evidence” against him.

On Wednesday, the ACB arrested five people – including additional director Pankaj Gehlot in Udaipur and superintending mining engineer Pushkar Raj Ameta in Bhilwara – and recovered Rs 3.8 crore allegedly paid as bribes to them.

The action followed a tip-off that a huge amount of money had been paid to them through a middleman for operations at six minesthat were recently shut for violating environmental norms.
